Shrunken calf is vegetable-tanned and produced through a unique tanning process where the leather is tumbled in a drum with heat and moisture. This treatment causes the fibers in the leather to contract and the grain to become more pronounced, giving it a textured appearance and a distinctive pattern.     

This leather is produced through a specialized combination of adding unique extracts within the vegetable tanning process. During the coloring and re-tanning stages, it is infused with wax and oil. Subsequently, the leather is toggle dried, roll-waxed, and bright rolled to achieve a flawless luster.

Big Horn is a premier shrunken bison featuring a pull-up with a polished surface grain. Additional details are added by hand in the final stages. As with all bison, the grain will vary within the side and from side to side. This unique grain pattern is characteristic of American bison.
