Very pleased

The Kudu is extremely soft but known for durability. I have only seen this color of Kudu on Vibergs. Boot seems well made and is true to brannock size. Nice supporting a small business as well. I had boot and sizing questions. Emailed Kevin and had a prompt reply with the answers. I also like the versatility of last/sole in combination with the leather. Interesting mix. Dress up or down. No regrets.

Very Nice

I conditioned them before wear and the leather seemed very rich and very soft. Unlike the other review, I did not experience any coloration on the cloth when applying the conditioner and the stitching was also perfect.

I've been banging around in these almost every day over the last couple weeks for everything from running errands in town to doing chores around a small farm and I love them more each time I put them on.

My only regret is that I purchased a half size up (12) thinking that it might be helpful given that some had reported the last being slightly narrow. The sizing felt good when I first tried them on but after wearing them for a while and seeing how the leather has broken in and softly conforms to my foot, I realize that I could have gone with my true Brannock sizing (11.5).

OK, but not great...

I have 20-30 pairs of shoes/boots from all kinds of manufacturers and price ranges. I wanted to give Caswell a try. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but sometimes you just don't get that "Wow!" factor when you open up a new pair. I'd say this is one of those occasions for me. They are OK, seem to be made well enough, and I will keep them to see how they break in and age, but they just don't "feel" the greatest. I would compare them more with Thursday brand, and I'm not sure the premium leather is worth the significant price increase compared to Thursday. I definitely wouldn't put them in the same category as other brands in the same price bracket. The leather also completely DRANK in the Saphir cream conditioner, unlike anything else I've ever seen. I probably used 10 times the amount as I normally need. They also completely covered my applicator cloth in very dark brown or black wax or polish, so they are clearly covered with a lot of that from the factory. All in all, I will say that unfortunately I am not going to be standing in line to buy another pair from Caswell.

Hi Scott,

We sincerely appreciate your candid feedback regarding the dark brown kudu service boots. We would like to apologize that our quality fell short of your expectations. As background, the leather used in these boots is sourced directly from CF Stead and they generally add a glossy finish to a lot of their kudu offerings. We would like to assure you that we refrain from applying any additional creams or treatments to the leather. We will make sure to follow up directly to ensure that we make things right.

Thank you,

Kevin

Poor construction.

The leather is beautiful, and the style of the boots is really nice but unfortunately the stitching is very inconsistent.

Hi Camilo,

We are extremely sorry for the stitching in the boot that you purchased. We take great pride in our products, and it is disappointing to hear that we have let you down in this instance. Please accept my deepest apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may have caused. I will make sure to reach out personally to make things right.

Thank you,

Kevin

High Quality, great price

I bought the brown kudu from Kevin and love the boots. The finishing is 10/10. I would stay they are true to size for me. My brannock is 12, I wear 11.5 in iron rangers and these size 12 fit perfect. Won't be my last purchase of Caswell boots for sure.
